Before you write
Most questions about results come down to two things: the density chosen and the allowance. Open “How this was calculated” under any result to see the exact steps, and check our methodology page for the densities used. If your supplier quotes a different tons-per-yard figure, type it into the custom density box – the calculator will use your number instead of ours.
Suppliers and quarries
If you operate a quarry or landscape supply yard and your product densities differ from ours, send us your spec sheet. We regularly add regional materials and naming variants (e.g. #411, ABC, crusher run, road base) so the calculators match what customers actually buy.
We do not provide engineering advice. For structural fill, retaining walls, rip rap on waterways or anything that needs a permit, consult a licensed engineer or your local authority.
